🌿 How it Works + Tips

Your body butter kit is designed to help you create a deeply nourishing, moisturiser that melts luxuriously into the skin. The combination of rich butters, nutrient-packed oils, and your chosen essential oil creates a deeply conditioning treatment perfect for dry, rough, or winter-worn skin.

Ingredient Highlights:

  • Organic Shea Butter (Unrefined) — Rich in fatty acids and vitamins for deep hydration and barrier repair.
  • Organic Jojoba Oil — Lightweight, but nourishing.
  • Organic Castor Oil — A thicker oil that helps seal in moisture and leaves skin soft and smooth.
  • Your Choice of Essential Oil or Blend — Customise your body butter with your preferred scent and mood (e.g. relaxing lavender, uplifting citrus, grounding cedarwood).
  • Vitamin E Oil — Acts as a natural antioxidant to preserve freshness and nourish the skin.

❄️ Cooler Climate Recipe (Recommended)

This is our most nourishing version, and if you store your butter indoors or in an air-conditioned space during summer, it should remain beautifully usable. We recommend starting with this recipe, but if you live in a particularly hot or humid climate, try the warm-weather variation below.

✨ Recipe (100 g Body Butter)

  • (63.5%) 63.5 g Shea Butter
  • (30%) 30 g Organic Jojoba Oil
  • (5%) 5 g Organic Castor Oil
  • (0.25 - 0.5%) 0.25 g Essential Oil (approx. 5 drops) *you can go up to 0.5 g — (10 drops)
  • (1%) 1 g Vitamin E Oil

🌤️ Warmer Climate Recipe

✨ Recipe (100 g Warm Climate Body Butter)

  • (73%) 73 g Shea Butter
  • (20%) 20 g Organic Jojoba Oil
  • (4.5%) 4.5 g Organic Castor Oil
  • (0.25–0.5%) 0.25 g Essential Oil (approx. 5 drops — you can go up to 0.5 g / 10 drops)
  • (1%) 1 g Vitamin E Oil
  • Optional, not supplied, but if you have any on hand: (1.5%) 1.5 g Beeswax or Cocoa Butter (optional) — for extra firmness in very warm or humid climates

🧂 Method

    1) Clean & Sterilise
    • Sanitise all equipment with isopropyl alcohol and let dry completely.
    • Clean & Prepare your workspace.

    2) Measure Oils
    • Measure Jojoba Oil and Castor Oils using your digital scale. Mix them together.

    3) Measure Butter
    • Measure the Shea butter and add them to the oils in a microwave-safe / heat-safe container.

    4) Warm Ingredients

⚠️ *Important: The base must NOT reach over 50°C.

    Microwave Method:

    • Place Microwave-safe pouring jug of Body Butter Ingredients into the microwave.
    • Heat in 20 second bursts, until 80% of the Shea Butter is melted. The base must not get hotter than 50°C.
    • Remove from the microwave and stir until the balance of the shea butter is melted. The warmth of the oils should be enough to melt the Shea Butter.

    Heat Bath Method:

    • Fill a cooking pot with enough water to reach halfway up the outside of your heat-resistant jug.
    • Place the jug into the pot and apply low heat. (Boiling water is not necessary—gentle heat will melt the base evenly.)
    • Continue to stir, heat until 80% of the Shea Butter is melted. The base must not reach above 50°C.
    • Remove from heat and stir until the balance of the shea butter is melted.

⚠️ Safety: Use heat-protective gloves and never leave the melting process unattended. Keep children away from the stove.

    5) Add Essential Oil & Vitamin E
    • When the temperature falls below 40°C, add your chosen essential oil and mix thoroughly.
    • Add vitamin E oil and stir to combine.

    6) Set or Whip
Standard texture: Pour into jar and let set completely. Stirring every 30 minutes until it hardens. (It should take a few hours).
Whipped texture: Chill in the fridge for 10–15 min until semi-solid, then whip with a hand mixer until fluffy.

    ✨ Usage

    • Apply generously to dry skin before bed.
    • Best for elbows, knees, heels, hands, and rough areas.
    • For extra absorption, apply to slightly damp skin post-shower.
    • Perfect as a night-time massage or winter recovery treatment.

    💡 Tips & Troubleshooting

Tip: Store at room temperature, away from sunlight, below 24 °C, the butter will begin to melt above this temperature.

    • Too soft or runny? Allow 24 hours to test texture. Add 5–10 g more shea butter or 2–3 g beeswax/cocoa butter; gently remelt below 50 °C.
    • Grainy texture? Caused by overheating – still safe to use.
    • Scent too strong? It will mellow within 24–48 hours. Adjust next batch if desired.
    • Skin tingling? Discontinue use – you may be sensitive to certain oils.
    • Phototoxic warning: Avoid applying citrus-based essential oils before sun exposure.
